This book continues the story of Peter, who is now a teenager, as he grows up and learns about service, responsibility, and courage. With his mother away helping a sick relative, thirteen-year-old Peter gets a chance to earn his doubting father’s trust when he successfully handles the important task of tapping the sugar maples to make syrup for their mountain farm. This book has many beautiful descriptions and lessons.
