Anthony doesn’t always like being the youngest in his family, especially when Mom says that he is her baby. But he doesn’t mind when Dad says, “This is Anthony, the end of the string.”  He is surprised to meet a white-haired lady who tells him that she is a baby too!

When Anthony turns six, Mom makes a cake that looks like a pile of dirt for Anthony’s loader to scoop up. She calls it a conscience cake. Anthony can have as much cake as his conscience allows. How many scoops should he take?

Anthony is finally old enough to go to school with his brothers. He knows kindergarten will be easy. But the very first day, he learns that doing a job well is harder than he thought.
